Roy Smalley, III, Chairman

Baseball is in Roy’s blood. An All-American at USC, he followed that up with 13 Major League seasons including 9 with the Minnesota Twins and 2+ with the New York Yankees. Career highlights include the Twins 1987 World Championship and starting at shortstop in the 1979 All-Star game. Following retirement from the game, Roy served as the Executive Director of the 1991 International Special Olympics and was a baseball analyst on ESPN’s “Baseball Tonight”. Roy was also inducted into the USC Hall of Fame and the college baseball Hall of Fame.  Currently, Roy is an analyst for Twins broadcasts on Fox Sports North. He and his wife, Christine, have three grown children and four grandchildren.


John Yengo, President

John is a founding board member for PIFB. He founded and currently leads a business strategy and marketing consulting practice whose clients range from start-up technology organizations to leading companies like Essilor, Kroger, and Fisher Investments.  He previously was Executive Vice President & Managing Director of the Cincinnati and Chicago office of Saatchi & Saatchi X. Prior to this role in the global Publicis network, John was a Partner at Barefoot Proximity within the Omnicom network. John started his career at Procter & Gamble and rose through the ranks in Finance and Marketing, eventually running the entire North American Fabric Care marketing efforts. John has also held the position of Vice-President of Marketing for IBM. He received his B.A and M.B.A. from the University of Rochester and also is a board member for the Greater Cincinnati Energy Alliance. John has extensive experience with youth sports as a baseball, basketball, and soccer coach to his three sons.


Susan Lowe CPA, CFO

Susan Lowe currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services in Keene, NH where she focuses on strategy, finance and accounting, administration, and facility management. Susan holds a Master’s of Science in Accountancy and Business Ethics from Bentley University; a Graduate Certificate in Management and Administration from Harvard University’s Extension School and a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Political Science and Economics from Bucknell University. Prior to joining Home Healthcare, Susan served as the Chief Financial Officer for Clarke Schools for Hearing & Speech and Physicians for Human Rights where she focused on strategy and led finance and accounting, IT, administration, operations and human resources for both organizations. Susan also has substantial experience in management and finance in the for-profit and not-for profit sectors, including experiences in special education, engineering, software development, retail, and membership-based organizations. She is a licensed CPA in Massachusetts and a Chartered Global Management Accountant. In addition to her work with PIFB/PIFS she serves as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors for Strategies for Youth, a national nonprofit organization focused on juvenile justice and on the Finance Committee for Viability and national nonprofit serving employment needs of the disabled.


Jordan Baltimore

Jordan Baltimore is the Founder, CEO, and Director of Training at New York Empire Baseball, a progressive baseball organization that is known for its unique culture, positive coaching, and science-based content.  Jordan earned his B.S. from New York University’s Stern School of Business and sold his first business, an IT services firm prior to graduation. In 2001, Jordan earned his MBA at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. Jordan has been a frequent guest lecturer at a number of undergraduate and graduate business programs, and technology and sports industry conferences, and his coaching philosophy and the science behind it has been featured on ESPN Radio, NBC News, and in the Wall Street Journal.


Eric Davis

Eric Davis is the Chief Strategic Officer, D & J Entertainment Holdings LLC.  Prior to forming DJE, Eric Davis was Vice President/Chief Operating Officer for VOAIL.  Eric Davis is committed to sports and the impact sports have on inner city kids. Prior to becoming the Vice President and COO, Mr. Davis was a Chicago Police Officer with over 25 years of service in the Gang crimes and Public housing units. Eric created the Slick Boys Youth Foundation to work with at risk youth in the City of Chicago and across the Country. While assigned to the Cabrini Green Housing Development, he along with the Slick Boys, and in partnership with Al Carter and Patricia Hill, created the largest inner city little league baseball program in the nation. The league became the inspiration for the movie “ Hard Ball- A Season in the Projects”, which starred Keanu Reeves.


Richard J. Gelles

Richard J. Gelles holds The Joanne and Raymond Welsh Chair of Child Welfare and Family Violence in the School of Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania. He is the Co-Faculty Director of the Field Center for Children’s Policy, Practice, and Research. Gelles received his A.B. degree from Bates College (1968), an M.A. in Sociology from the University of Rochester (1971), and a Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of New Hampshire (1973). He has authored, co-authored, and edited 26 books. His latest book is “The Third Lie: Why Government Programs Do Not Work—And a Blue Print for Change” (Left Coast Press). Although a devoted and passionate fan of the Boston Red Sox, he has been won over by the Philadelphia Phillies and now has season tickets to the Phillies.


Michael Kopech

Michael is the Director of Marketing at ESPN, whose love of baseball runs deep. He is a graduate of Boston College. Michael is excited to be a part of PIFB, because it reminds him that so much good can come from baseball – easy to forget when you’re a Mets Fan.


Michael Markovich

As Global Commercial Director for Wilson Sporting Goods in baseball marketing, Michael “Marko” Markovich, brings tremendous insight, connections, and energy to our organization. A self-proclaimed “zero tool prospect”, Marko’s professional success in the baseball industry has more than made up for his inability to hit the breaking ball. Marko’s service on the Pitch In For Baseball board stems from his belief that every child deserves the opportunity to fall in love with baseball and that the good deed of just one person can launch that lifelong love of the game.


Arthur Pincus

Based in New York City, Mr. Pincus serves as a consultant on editorial matters, public relations, and the internet. With experience as Assistant Commissioner, Communications, for NYC’s Department of Parks and Recreation, a senior editor and reporter for The New York Times and The Washington Post, as a senior executive for the National Hockey League, and the author of several books, Mr. Pincus brings a wide array of expertise and talent to Pitch In For Baseball.


Bill Piszek

A diehard Phillies’ fan, philanthropist, father, and long-time supporter of Little League Baseball International, Bill is the inspiration behind Pitch In For Baseball. Bill wanted to share his passion for baseball with needy kids in Poland, where equipment is not easily accessible. PIFB continues to support youth baseball and softball organizations in Poland. Bill is also the Vice President of the Copernicus Society of America, a Philadelphia area private foundation.


Terry Smith

As CEO, Terry Smith has lead Rushmore to 7 years of strong growth in the Residential Mortgage Servicing space. Rushmore has become a nationally recognized high-touch special servicer that is an approved Seller-Servicer with FreddieMac, FannieMae & GinnieMae. Rushmore currently has over 150k loans on the platform and growing, plus is rated by S&P, Fitch, DBRS & Kroll. Rushmore has offices in Irvine, CA, – Dallas, TX,  and San Juan, PR. Mr. Smith is also a Senior Managing Director at Roosevelt Management Company for the last 9 years, where he is responsible for capital markets, operations, and servicing. Mr. Smith formerly worked at Ellington Management Group, as a Managing Director. He worked at Morgan Stanley as an Executive Director. He also worked for C-Bass and was responsible for a start-up and management of a 125 person team which performed due diligence, property valuation, and REO asset disposition functions. Mr. Smith was with EMC/Bear Stearns for 12 years and was responsible for a 60 person Capital Markets Operations Team.
